Prayer Request List

Protection:

  • Spiritual protection from any lies, temptations, confusions, worry, fear, etc.
  • Spiritual protection and focus for daily devotional times that they may comfort, guide and empower us.
  • Spiritual protection from anything that might divide Melissa and Pete.
  • Spiritual protection from the government noticing Pete’s work (Legally I can have a conversation, I just can’t preach or do missionary work.)
  • Mental protection from weariness, forgetfulness.
  • Mental protection from getting down about the poverty, filth, and massive scale of need.
  • Physical protection while traveling, especially on roads in Kolkata.
  • Physical protection from poorly prepared food or bad water or sleeplessness.
  • Physical protection from intentional harm.

Protection for our kids

  • Protection from worry, fear, or sadness. Instead give them trust and peace and prayerful hearts for the children of India.
  • Protection from frustration or impatience with different adults watching them. Give them unity and gentleness as sisters.
  • Protection from accidents, sleeplessness, and illness.

 Power:

  • For Melissa to be physically able to serve the children over many long days.
  • For Melissa to be able to offer love and possibly medical care in meaningful ways. (We will learn more about the details of her service once we are there.)
  • For Melissa to serve Christ in each of these children.
  • For Pete to understand the culture and students well so that he can clearly communicate Biblical truth and not American ways.
  • For Pete to convey respect and love across the cultural differences.
  • For Pete to be flexible and discerning about how best to teach these students, which topics to dig into, which teaching techniques to use.
  • For boldness to speak about Jesus Christ.
  • For the students to learn to depend on the Bible above all else.
  • For the students and pastor to become more unified in heart and ministry.
  • For the Holy Spirit to be present guiding each of us.

Change:
  • For both of us to be consistent and patient in listening to God.
  • For good sharing and communication between us.
  • For humble and broken hearts willing to receive whatever God wants to give.
  • For Jesus to change us as he desires.
